The 88bikes Foundation Endows bicycles to women and girls throughout the world. Thanks so much for checking out our photo installation at Manna! You can donate a bike or any amount, any time. Below is some information about the photos in the gallery. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

The above photos are among our favorites taken over 18 years of work in 21 countries. From top to bottom:
① “Bejewelled” | Belgrade, Serbia | 2013
16 year old Elvira bejewels her new bike with jewelry she made in our partner NGO Fair Girls’ jewelry-making workshop. Elvira wants to be a Break Dancer for her Great Dream*.
*When we endow a bike to a woman or girl we ask her “What is your Great Dream for your life?” In 18 years we’ve heard about everything, from Geographer of Volcanoes to Break Dancer to Boxer.
② “Jorge y Maria” (lambs, not kids!) | Mantaro Valley, Peru | 2009.
After endowing 120 bikes to orphans in the Mantaro Valley of Peru, my brother Jared and I came across these super cute kids and their lambs (yes they are real!) on a hike.
③ “Flags” | Jakarta, Indonesia | 2024
We endowed 35 bikes to trafficking survivors in Jakarta in early 2024. Anisa is 14 and wants to be a Police Officer for her Great Dream.
④ “Sanved” | Kolkata, India | 2016
Women and girls line up with their new bikes before embarking on a first ride.
⑤ “Reflection” | Siem Reap, Cambodia | 2024
Sreylin is 15 and wants to be a Dancer for her Great Dream.
⑥ “Fast and Furious” | Phnom Penh, Cambodia | 2024
We endowed 454 bikes to trafficking survivors and those at risk in and around Phnom Penh, Cambodia in early 2024. After getting their bikes, the girls took them for a sunset spin around the wat (temple).
⑦ “Soar” | Marrakech, Morocco | 2023
Ghalia is 13 and wants to be a Doctor for her Great Dream.
⑧ “Palawan” | Puerto Princesa, The Philippines | 2014
Christine is 12 and wants to join the Philippine Marine Corps for her Great Dream. The girls were just about to board a ferry after receiving their bikes.
Special thanks to Brandon Jameson and Tyler Venter, the best barista in North County, for helping design and curate the installation. All photography by Dan Austin except for #4, “Sanved” by Dilip Kanjilal.
You can endow a bike to heroic woman or girl anytime. The cost is still just $88. Same cost since 2007 when we launched.
We purchase bikes common to the region from local vendors to support the local economy. We work to follow-up with former bike recipients years after the gift of a bike to see how they’re doing.
